Location. Location. Remote!

Location. Location. Remote!

This lesson we will talk about how you go about getting the position you want but more importantly staying there. Recruiting is a fascinating career with a lot of rewards along the way. The most rewarding part of it is the flexibility it offers. Depending if you're an in house internal recruiter or working remotely of course. The most coveted position is to be a full time remote recruiter. This means you can work from anywhere in the country or the world for that matter. Preferably, you want your company to be based in a different state so that you never have to go into an office ever again! Sometimes if they are in the same county or state they would want you to go in a couple of times a week. This all depends on your preference or the company you work for. Some people love going into an office so if you're a real extrovert at least you always have the option of working from home or going in if you feel like you need that face to face human interaction. Some corporations will require you to be in house but after the Covid Pandemic a lot of companies are reconsidering letting their employees work from home indefinitely.

The true beauty of this career is that you can be a recruiter for almost any company in any industry; whether it’s Accounting, Engineering, Health Care, Legal, IT, Tech, Aviation, Film, Beauty, the fields are endless. All the fields mentioned require a four year college degree for almost every single position except Recruiting and some Social Media Marketing roles. It’s a great opportunity for someone who wishes to better themselves and acquire a salaried job without the intense time and financial investment of a four year degree. The only thing you need to decide is if you want to work for a company or an agency. Working directly for a company you will be recruiting strictly for one company in one industry. For example, if you’re a recruiter for Starbucks you are recruiting on a full time basis for positions that only pertain to Starbucks related jobs most likely on a local or national scale. If you decide to work for a staffing agency you will work as a recruiter fulfilling job orders for different companies/clients the agency represents. Sometimes in a specific related industry or multiple industries nationwide.

The big push for remote work is a great opportunity for you to take advantage of the freedom it presents to leverage your own personal passions. In today’s technologically advanced world the possibilities to balance your time has never been easier. If you're able to manage and control your time you can accomplish a lot more than you think. The key is to try to eliminate as many distractions as possible so you can focus on what you really want to be doing. Working full time from home allows you to complete your job duties on your own timeline and frees up extra time so you can focus on your own personal growth or pursue passion projects that you actually enjoy.

All the huge Silicon Valley tech firms are encouraging their employees to work remotely, some firms, like Twitter even going as far as allowing workers to work remotely forever. No matter what you decide just make sure you are happy with the company and people you work with. This will dictate how long you will remain at a certain company for and will also determine your overall success at said firm. Your goal should be to be successful at one company for a good amount of time before deciding to move on to a bigger and better opportunity. You want to make sure you don’t have “gaps” in your resume as hiring managers are biased with unemployed periods or if a candidate hops around from job to job too quickly. It’s important that you are aware of your resume and maintain a stable employment history with great references just like the one you will receive from us!
