Recruiting is an art form. There is a science behind it and if you're able to understand and master it you can be very successful. The purpose of this course is to teach you the basic foundation of recruitment in order to establish a clear path for your future success. In this course, we will delve into the Recruiting process and discuss the major role it plays in the strategic growth of any small to large enterprise. Recruiting is defined as the overall process of attracting, selecting and appointing suitable candidates for jobs (either permanent or temporary) within an organization. Recruiting all comes down to putting two parties together and making sure their interests are in complete alignment. In almost every instance you are acting as the captain of a ship by directing the course of the recruiting process every step of the way. It is your job to steer and navigate the vessel as best you can while managing any unforeseen waves along the way. When it comes to the overall success of a candidate at any particular company what you need to keep in mind is culture fit. You need to ask yourself if this individual's beliefs and behavior correlate with the employer's core values and corporate culture.

This is why asking the right questions is a crucial part of the hiring process. Having a potential hire meet your staff prior to receiving any offer will also allow you to determine if the candidate will fit in well with your team since most corporations have a family-like focus on doing things together as a group. You want to avoid hiring someone who may display toxic behavior that will undermine morale and overall productivity among other employees. All it takes is one rotten egg to spoil it for everyone so be diligent in your background checks and references when conducting your search. You as a recruiter need to do your due diligence and make sure you cover all the bases to ensure long term success across the board. You will receive a job description from your employer and your job will be to match up as many bullet points as possible with the right candidate. These bullet points are based on experience, qualifications, skills, and education. Aside from these basic requirements, their demeanor and overall attitude must be in line with what the company is looking for. You are basically in charge of placing two people in a marriage and the goal is to check as many boxes as possible in order to maintain a prosperous and long term relationship. You're a therapist, relationship coach and matchmaker all in one! 

While absorbing all this new material try to make your own assessments, decisions and always think for yourself. In the end it's your career so you must do whatever you believe is in your best interest no matter how many opinions and unsolicited advice you will receive along the way. You will eventually develop your own style and approach that you will apply to different situations you come across. Every recruiter has their own personal spin since every candidate must be handled differently based on their own unique personality. Almost every facet of this profession is based on human behavior and psychology, which is why you need to understand your audience as much as possible. If you have any sales or marketing experience you will undoubtedly be able to apply those techniques to recruiting individuals on a large scale this however is not a prerequisite to being a great recruiter. Recruiting is about understanding and identifying a person's needs & desires and implementing those needs to a suitable position that makes sense for both the company and the candidate alike.

When it comes to the recruiting game, it's important to keep yourself motivated. This is a marathon not a sprint. You don't want to burn yourself out so make sure you take care of your soul, mind and body. Taking time for yourself to refresh and reflect on your progress is always a great idea. Understanding what you can change in your daily routine to improve both your life and work are essential to your overall winning strategy. This is a numbers game so your closing ratio is all based on having a good amount of recruits in your pipeline; the more people you speak with, the higher your odds of success. Keep in mind that you want to pursue quality leads in order to avoid wasting time, it's more about quality than quantity. This means try not wasting time with people who have zero interest or are not seriously looking to make a move anywhere. It's imperative that you don't invest all your time in things that are not going anywhere. There is only so much follow up and valuable time you can invest into something before you realize that it's a complete waste of time. So make it a priority to invest and manage your time wisely, after all it is your most valuable commodity.

After making multiple successful placements your confidence will shoot through the roof and soon enough everything will feel like second nature to you. Try not to see your job as work or a chore, the more you do it, the more you should enjoy it. Remember that you're just having conversations with people about their goals and how you can assist in making them a reality. Enjoy every step of the process and you will be much happier as a result. The important thing is to have fun, develop amazing relationships, and find a way to integrate this career as part of your lifestyle. Whether it's meeting a candidate for drinks, working out with a co-worker or networking at events & restaurants you already love are just some examples of how your work can fit perfectly into your life in a positive way. 

Every person you speak with is a potential stepping stone to a higher opportunity whether it be in personal growth or career advancement. Essentially, you are getting paid to network, make connections, and align these connections to better opportunities in their respective fields.
